Get started in the fascinating world of beekeeping. This workshop will address everything you need to practice the "Art of Beekeeping" including basic bee biology, equipment, setting up your apiary, managing your honeybees throughout the year (including preventing and recognizing and dealing with issues), extracting honey, wintering hives, and caring for 2nd year surviving colonies. The instructor is an experienced beekeeper and will demonstrate equipment. Bring a bag lunch to class. Bio JoAnne Sabin has been a beekeeper since 2005 and is passionate about keeping bees. She has been teaching gardening and honeybee related topics since 2004, including presentations at garden expos, garden clubs, beekeeping groups, schools and both the Dakota County and the State Fair.
